Producing Area Tea
Yamamotoyama Tea from its place of origin
Japanese tea-producing regions are widely distributed, from Niigata Prefecture in the north to Okinawa Prefecture in the south. Unique teas are produced in each region, adapting to the local climate, soil, and history.
There are distinct characteristics depending on the production area, to the extent that there's a counting song for the famous "Three Great Teas of Japan" that goes, "Shizuoka for color, Uji for aroma, and Sayama for the lingering taste."
Yamamotoyama has disseminated Sayama tea throughout the world and led the Japanese tea culture.
It was Yamamoto Kahei, the 6th generation head of Yamamotoyama, who first sold Sayama-cha in Edo and introduced its rich flavor to the world.
The foresight he showed in discovering the appeal of "flavorful Sayama" still underpins our "connoisseurship" today.
Today, this discerning eye has expanded to tea plantations nationwide, carefully selecting everything from representative production areas in Japan such as Shizuoka, Kagoshima, and Uji, to rare tea leaves grown by passionate producers. Each region offers a different climate, aroma, and story. Please enjoy the rich individuality of various regions throughout Japan, brought to you with confidence by Yamamotoyama.
